For those who want to walk through Horseshoe Bay, Antelope Canyon and the Grand Canyon, I always suggest a clockwise trip, both to Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bay, and then to the Grand Canyon.
The Colorado River is going from northeast to southwest, while the road is on the east side of the canyon, moving clockwise, the canyon is always on your right, which not only facilitates parking for sightseeing, taking photos, but also can see the changes of the canyon from narrow to magnificent. The red arrow shows the Colorado River flow direction, and the blue arrow indicates the route direction.
From Vagas to Page this is not monotonous and boring, just on 15 high speed out of Vegas, on both sides of the flowers into gobi, finally into the mountains, but by 15 highway 59, after a winding road, can turn on the Colorado plateau, behind many are flat straight avenue, under the blue sky and white clouds, can feel the scenery of the west.
Therefore, the recommended 4-day trip is as follows:
Day1: From Vegas early in the morning, take Highway 15, take Highway 9-59-389-89A-89 to Peggy, travel about four and a half hours, 276 miles (about 441 km) requires at least one break. After arrival, the first time to book the tickets of Antelope Canyon, the best set at 12-1 o’clock, English can also be, you can directly book on the official website, if it is not booked, the scene to pick up leakage is also possible, less people (1-2 people are very good to pick up space).
Later in the afternoon, you can go to Horseshoe Bay, Horseshoe Bay park to the edge of the cliff, to climb over a gentle slope, the difficulty is very low, but the sun is very sunny, but also very hot, it is best to bring a bottle of water each. When taking photos in Horseshoe Bay, be safe. The cliff has no guardrail (I repaired it in May and don’t know if it was repaired). Don’t sit in a dangerous place on the cliff to take special photos. This time is a good choice to watch the Colorado River sunset.
Day2: According to the scheduled time, arrive at the designated place in advance (some departure place is at the door, some in the Page center store), note the time zone, Page is mountain time, Vegas is Pacific time, one hour time difference in winter, no time difference, specific, set in the world time of mobile phone.
An Indian SUV (no private cars) can be around in about 2 hours. Antelope Canyon is divided into upper Antelope Canyon and lower Antelope Canyon, the above said is the upper Antelope Canyon, lower Antelope Canyon is a little more difficult, there is an annual opening time need to pay attention to. Both Antelope Canyons have photo groups that can shoot on a tripod for a little longer. But fortunately, that place is very good-looking, and the Indian guide for the shooting location, the phone setting is very skilled, according to his know, who can take the phone to take a good picture.
Based on the ticket time of Antelope Canyon tickets, morning go to Glen Canyon Dam for a shot and you can see that dam on your way to Page.
After visiting the Antelope Canyon at noon, we set out for the Grand Canyon. The suggested route is to take Route 89-64 (the navigation will suggest that you take a 20 path and then turn to Route 89-64, the first time I don’t recommend that you walk like that, nothing to see) all the way to the terrain change is very beautiful, but very desolate. All 139 miles (222 km), about 2 and a half hours, preferably a rest. Grand Canyon tickets are charged by car, and are valid for a few days. The first day at the Grand Canyon should be around 5 am. You can watch the sunset at the Grand Canyon and stay in Tusa Yang at night.
Day3: You can visit the Grand Canyon again in the morning. There are 3 shuttle s and you can sit over. Time is time to master it by yourself. But I had finished reading it almost at noon. The meals are good enough to start returning to Vegas. For 282 miles (about 451 km), near the vegas, you can visit the Hoover Dam, and if you want to visit Hoover, you need to come out early. It’s basically from Highway 40 to Highway 93, but I chose it from Highway 40 to Highway 66 (the red line below), and then turned to Highway 93.
In the last three days, and if you do take a four-day trip, take some time to visit Lake Powell at Page.
Catering & Accommodation:
In terms of food, Page, I think there is nothing to eat, a Chinese buffet looks OK, but I haven’t been in, I like Big John’s Texas BBQ, and the band performed, the atmosphere is very good, and I usually wait in line at night. If you can drink, there is a Texas original pulp beer that is very good, just ask the waiter for a local beer.
On the S Lake Powell Blvd road, the biggest supermarket is a Safeway, along with Starbucks, a good place to buy supplies all the way.
Accommodation words, there are several motel opposite the S Lake Powell Blvd supermarket, convenient and not expensive. If you want to choose a better one, drive for a few minutes, or on the road near highway 89 has a Courtyard by Courtyard (Courtyard by Marriott Page at Lake Powell), recommend that several motel, convenient location, can drink without the bullet train.
