Families because of limited time, came to Las Vegas want to choose to go to a surrounding place to play. Since I haven’t been there for long, I asked a local friend which of the attractions around Las Vegas is the most worth visiting.
At present, the family are more interested in the Grand Canyon National Park, Horseshoe Bay, Antelope Canyon, these three places, but because of the relationship of time, feel that to Las Vegas only enough time to go to one place, I do not know where to go better? In fact, if you go to the Grand Canyon and then go to Page city is not far away, if you go to Page City and then the way to go back to Las Vegas is not very scientific. So I planned the following routes for my family, analyzing the distance from Las Vegas, to the Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bay, and the Antelope Canyon, hoping to help friends who have the same needs.
- Las Vegas — the Grand Canyon National Park（the southern edge） (about 450 km drive, 4.5 hours or so)
If you’re going to the Grand Canyon, I suggest you set aside at least 1.5-2 days! As the first day approaches noon, Park your car in the parking lot next to the visitors’ center. Visit the spherical projection screen at the visitors’ center. In the afternoon, focus on the Red Line, one of the Grand Canyon National Park routes in the park, return to Hotel after sunset. The next morning, if you get up can go to the park“Orange” line to watch the sunrise, and then visit the“Red Line” scenery, and then drive straight back to Las Vegas.
For two full days, drive to the Wilhemlms-66 theme town, about 100km or so from the south gate, and return to Las Vegas after lunch. This way, you can get the Grand Canyon View all the way to the East Gate.
- Las vegas-Page (Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver, Antelope Canyon)
I call it Page because Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver, Antelope Canyon, and Lake Powell are all within the city limits of Page. So instead of going to the Grand Canyon and going straight to Page City, you can go north to Page city on 15/9/59/389/89A (about 440km or so) , but it doesn’t make sense to go back to Las Vegas the same way.
Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver is about 2-3 hours (from the car park, it’s time to walk all the way to the attraction, take photos, and return to the car park. And on the way there is a section of sand road, it is very difficult to walk, so it is a waste of time. You Can’t just take a picture and go to Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver? So Reserve as much time as possible) . Antelope Canyon needs to be booked in advance, the best light around noon group (group time for 2 hours) , plus the car ride and other time how to 3-4 hours.
All in all: It Takes 2 days to visit Page City. And Page city has not only Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver and Antelope Canyon, but also Lake Powell and Zion National Parks.
If you have 2 days, I give you a plan, you can go to the place you want to go, but the time is a little bit rushed, I list you consider:
Day 1: Las Vegas — the Grand Canyon National Park
A nearly 450km drive on the southern edge, in about 4.5 hours. I suggest you leave early in the morning. The earlier you arrive, the more time you’ll have to play. I’ve analyzed the problem for you. I’ll list the suggested play order for you below:
- Bright Angel Trailhead (two-way) —— recommends that the Hiking route and scenery of this station are also relatively beautiful, and the road is relatively easy to walk here. You can choose to take a short section below the canyon here and then return to the original road.
- Trailview Overlook (unidirectional)
- Maricopa Point (unidirectional)
- Powell Point (in two directions)
- Hipi Point (unidirectional)
- Hermit Road (unidirectional)
- Monument Creek Vista (unidirectional)
- Pima Point (in two directions)
- Hermits Rest (unidirectional)
- Mohave Point (watch the sunset) (in both directions) after watching the sunset here, take the shuttle bus back to the hotel.
The reason why I choose to watch the sunset at Mohave Point point is that it is a two-way parking point, and after watching the sunset at Hipi Point point, I have to take the shuttlet bus driving inside, and then transfer to the shuttle bus driving outside. Personally, I think it is not very convenient, so you can combine the map to compare it.
Day 2 :Grand Canyon National Park-south rim-Page city-las Vegas
South Edge tourist center-Page city: the whole journey about 230 km by car;
Page city-las Vegas: about 440km by car.
Suggest the next morning along the Park Highway 64 to the East Gate, tour the East Gate Road scenery, calculate the time, near noon arrived Page. Today you can book a photo tour of Antelope Canyon around noon. After Antelope Canyon you can go to Horseshoe, then Lake Powell, then back to Las Vegas. If you’re not going to Lake Powell, Take Highway 9 on your way back to Las Vegas and Cross Zion National Park.
